What is The Band Boutique?

Chris and Laura from The Band Boutique
The Band Boutique is an entertainment agency based in the South of the UK.  We are a husband and wife team dedicated to finding the perfect musical entertainment for your wedding or event! We have a huge variety of acts on our books, but we have a real passion for bands that offer something a little bit different!  Over the years we have found ourselves specialising in vintage and folk style entertainment, often with a bit of a Mumford and Sons vibe that is usually ideal for festival weddings. We think we have some of the most unique acts in the country on our books!

How did we get started?

The Band Boutique is run by Chris and Laura. Chris had played in bands for a number of years trying to score a big record contract, and in 2006 started his first wedding band, Mister Kanish. After a very successful first couple of years, with Laura organising the bookings, we put together The Band Boutique to help source bands for the weddings Mister Kanish could not do. Then after a short while it took on a life of it’s own, and we have been booking great bands for great people ever since.

Who are we?

Chris from Mister Kanish

Chris deals with all of the complicated stuff like the finances! And he’ll usually be the one to answer the phone if you give us a call. He’s also the one that puts the all important contracts together.

Aside from the business, Chris has played bass guitar in several different wedding bands since he started playing in 2000. His career highlights have included touring the UK with his bands, supporting Status Quo and Roger Daltrey on their UK tours, and winning the French television show, The Cover with his band Mister Kanish. While he is not booking bands for events Chris spends his time playing weddings and gigs in his band. As you can see he is fully immersed in the wedding/events entertainment world, so is usually pretty good at answering any questions you might have, and often has good advice to give!

Laura with her vale

Laura is the first port of call for clients via email. While Chris is busy with all the complicated stuff, Laura is in charge of getting quotes and information from bands to clients as soon as possible. She’s also excited to hear all about your event, especially if it’s a wedding!

Laura has a passion for parties of any kind, and had an absolute field day planning her own DIY wedding back in May 2014! It was an amazing experience, but it certainly wasn’t stress free, so she is definitely able to empathise with any fretting brides (or grooms) out there! She also headed up a team planning an 80’s themed charity event in February, to raise money for Childrens Cancer Charity – Clic Sargent, which raised over £4500. The afore mentioned Mister Kanish were roped in to perform, and this definitely helped the donations come flooding in. The plan is to make it an annual event, so watch this space! You can find out more about Laura over at her blog Wrapped Up In Rainbows.

New Projects

The Skip jacks in a field

We are currently working on putting together our own ‘Band Boutique Exclusive’ bands. We’ve really listened to what our clients want over the past couple of years, and now we want to create bands which can totally fit with this.  We’ve noticed a lots of our clients are looking for ‘Mumford and Sons’ style bands, which are often sold out over the summer months, so two of our new bands will have a folky style to fit with this, particularly playing modern music in the bands own quirky way!  We’ve also noticed a bit of a trend growing for brass instruments, so we’ve made sure some of the new bands will have a bit of sax to keep brass lovers happy! We are really excited about this ongoing project and we hope you will be just as excited about the bands that come out of it!
